Overview
At 4,400m above sea level in northern India’s remote Spiti Valley, the Hikkim post office is a vital connection to the outside world. 'Tsedup's house' is just next to this highest post office in the world. From food to your rooms, everything at this place speaks of the ethnicity of Spiti!
Hikkim is a must-visit place if you are traveling to Spiti as you don't want to miss a chance to send postcards to your loved ones from this highest post office.
Hikkim stays close for six months due to heavy snowfall in this area and hence the post office. Postmaster Rinchen Chhering has been running the operations since its inception in 1983.

Stay-

'Tsedup's house' provides a comfortable stay in otherwise this very remote area. This house has 3 rooms and the best thing is that you can also sleep under the stars (on the terrace). Your dining area is the quintessential area of any house in Spiti.
With Hikkim being a no-network zone, you can spend some valuable time with yourself and the ones you are traveling with.
This guesthouse offers a magnificent view of Chau Chau Kang Nelda peak. 'Tsedup's house' is perfect to learn about the culture of people who stay in one of the remotest places of India.

Food-

We at NotOnMap believe in “living like a local” and when you are in Spiti, living in one of the rustic stays of the valley, don’t miss the chance to savor their local dishes.
In 'Tsedup's house', we try to serve the best authentic local food. For lunch and dinner, locally grown vegetables are served as part of local Spiti cuisine. If a special request is made in advance by the guests, non-vegetarian food can be arranged.

Experience-

This homestay is on the top of Hikkim and hence gives you the best experience. There is a co-educational school as well in Hikkim up to eighth class. You can visit there if you want to contribute your time in giving helpful insights to the kids.
Komic is at a distance of 4 km, so you can do a day trip to this highest village in Asia. Also, Langza is 8 km from Hikkim and you can spend some time in Langza village too.

How to Reach-
Hikkim is 40km from the main town Kaza. You can either get a shared cab or you can hire your own taxi. The route from Kaza to Hikkim is via treacherous road and you would not want to miss the views.
