What we do?

By Air

Gaggal airport in Dharamsala is the nearest airport at a distance of 185 km. Flights from Chandigarh, Delhi and Kullu connect Gaggal airport.

By Train

Pathankot is the nearest railhead at a distance of 118 km. Trains from Ahmedabad, Bhatinda, Delhi, Hatia, Jammu, Udhampur, etc. run regularly to Pathankot. Taxis are available from Pathankot to reach Chamba.

By Road

Chamba is well connected by road to most neighboring regions and major parts of Himachal Pradesh. Regular private and state-owned buses from Bharmour, Khajjiar and Dalhousie ply to Chamba.


Facilities and Activities

Aid Stations
Support stations will be provided at every 2.5kms on the run-route.

Parking (on a first-come-first-serve basis)
Due to limited parking, it is recommended to use autos/ taxis/ public transport/ car-pool to reach the venue.

Baggage Counter 
A baggage counter can be used to store small belongings at the venue. Please note that we'll take no responsibility for lost contents, ensure that you leave no valuables behind.

Warm-up Session
Warm-up sessions will be held 20 minutes prior to the start of each run.

Refreshments
Drinking water and electrolyte-based drinks will be provided at intermediate Support Points along the run route. Breakfast will be provided to every participant at the Venue.

Medical Emergencies
We'll be arranging for an Ambulance to be available at all times during the run.


About the Organizers

NotOnMap is a social initiative that bridges the gap between urban and rural communities by encouraging a dialogue that helps equate the cultural and economic gap between the two. We've organized several community-oriented events across the country, successfully built multiple community model villages, voiced various social causes, and catalyzed rural upliftment in remote areas of India. Chamba Marathon is the first “Marathon for a Cause” being organized by NotOnMap under a series of heritage runs across the country.

Mr. Manuj Sharma
Race Director

Manuj, one of the co-founders of NoM, wears many hats. A former cricketer who represented state, he has been operations manager with Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, and logistics manager with the Indian cricket team. Manuj has managed tour of Indian Cricket A Team in South Africa, England & Australia as logistic manager. Apart from this, he managed one of world’s largest Cricket Tournament called “Cricket Mahasangram” in 2015 which was played all across India. Besides being an Sports administrator, he has been an ecotourism entrepreneur, and a reputed development practitioner active for over two decades. However, his heart lies with the community. He ultimately strives for empowering people, specially youth by providing them sustainable livelihoods leveraging environmental and cultural resources.

Mr G. Satish Raju
Technical Director

Satish Raju is an experienced corporate professional with a 30-year work experience including leadership positions. An IIT-Kharagpur and IIM-Ahmedabad graduate, Satish’s last corporate responsibility was SwissRe’s India CEO. He is an avid runner, having completed several half and full marathons and a couple of 50K runs. He has also done endurance cycling, having participated in cycling brevets of up to 400 km. Satish is part of the founding team of Peerancheruvu Runners [PCR] of Hyderabad, which has successfully executed running events in the last several years. Satish has also been part of the Managing Committee of Hyderabad Runners as its Joint Secretary during 2017-2019 and continues to be part of its Core Committee. Hyderabad Runners is very well regarded in the running community for organizing the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon every year in the month of August, which has attracted over 20,000 participants in recent years.

Mr. Shailendra Singh Bisht
Race Advisor

Shailendra is currently an Associate Professor in the Marketing and Strategy area at IBS Hyderabad and works on the interface of marketing and public policy Shailendra is an ultra runner. He is an active member of the PCR (Peeran Cheruvu Runners) based in Hyderabad. He has completed 13 Full Marathons and 3 Ultramarathons including 72 KM Khardung la Challenge 2017 and 110 KM Malnad Ultra 2018. Frequently Asked Questions


Have you organized any running events?

NotOnMap Chamba Marathon is the first marathon being organized under an annual series of marathon runs in Rural India. NotOnMap is being assisted closely by Mr. Satish Raju and Mr. Shailendra Bisht who are the founding members of Peerancheruvu Runners (PCR), Hyderabad. When is the registration deadline? Can I register on the day of the run?

There will be no on-spot registrations at the venue. The registrations will close by 15/04/2021, or earlier if all available slots are filled.

How many slots are available for participation?

The run will be open for 1000 participants. The limit for every category is as follows:
5K: 500 Participants
10K: 300 Participants
21K: 200 Participants

I haven’t participated in any running event, can I still register?

No prior running participation is required for 5K/ 10K runs. For 21K, experience in a 10K (or higher) in the last 2 years validated by a participation certificate or an online timing record is necessary.

Can I register for the 5K and 10K events if I have never run before?

If you're inexperienced but are interested in running actively, we suggest you register for the 5K run. For the 10K run, it is recommended you participate only if you're able to run at least 5K comfortably, even at a slow pace.
Please ensure you are medically fit to run. If you're under any medication/ treatment, please consult your doctor before participating.

Will I be provided any training if I am a first time runner?

The local people of Chamba will be provided free training for running the marathon. The training will start 8 weeks prior to the event date.

Can I cancel my registration and get refunds if my plans change? And in case the event is canceled, will I get my registration fee refunded?

The registration fee is non-refundable. However, if the event is canceled for any reasons by us or on the instructions of government authorities, we’ll attempt to hold the event on an alternative date. You’ll be given the option to either move your registration to the rescheduled event date or apply for a refund if you’re unavailable then. If the event is canceled anyway, the registration fee will be refunded.

Will my run be timed?

The 10K and 21K run will be timed.
Each runners’ bib will carry a timing chip, and timings will be made available online within 3 days post the event.

Will I receive a medal/ participation certificate?

No physical participation certificates will be given, online timings are acceptable for prior-participation qualifications when registering for other running events. Medals will be given to all finishers in 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon.
Please ensure you retain your running bibs with you during and after the run so as to get your medals.

Will I be provided any training if I am a first time runner?

The local people of Chamba will be provided free training for running the marathon. The training will start 8 weeks prior to the event date.

Who will be training me for the marathon?

The Drona Academy is an initiative by Devinder Singh, a retired National Security Guard Commando, who after completing his successful and glorious career in the armed forces had now taken the baton in his hand to inspire and motivate the youth of the region. It is a community-driven organization with a focus on fitness, the environment, the fight against drugs, and various community-driven initiatives. The Drona academy has previously been a partner in the Half Marathon & MTB (Chamba-Sahu-Chamba) in 2019.

When and where can I collect my race kit?

Please note that race kits will not be delivered by post or courier, or available on the spot during the run day.
They have to be picked up from the venue on 7th and 8th May at the expo. A Government-issued photo identification will be needed to match your online registration information before issuing the kit.

How long will the venue and route be open for the Event, and Is there any limit on finishing times?

The venue will be open for participants from ___ to ___.
No finishing time is required for 5K runners. 10K runners need to complete their run within 2 hours and Half Marathon runners need to complete their run in 3 hours, 30 minutes in order to qualify for the medal.

How are you managing COVID Risks?

We expect all participants to adhere to government-issued protocols and guidelines prevailing during the expo and the run (7th to 9th May 2021). Masks can only be taken off on the run route. Runners are required to wear a mask and maintain physical distance when they're at the Expo, they're in the holding and starting area on the run day and when they've crossed the finish Line and remain at the venue. We encourage you to wear your mask at all other times, maintain distance and not congregate or run in groups even if you're a recovered COVID patient or have been vaccinated. It is important not to spread alarm among your fellow participants by not wearing a mask.

Can someone else collect the kit on my behalf?

In case you are unable to come to the venue, you get someone else to collect the kit on your behalf with an authorization letter and a copy of your photo id.

Is the route marked? Are there rules to ensure we don’t deviate from the route?

The route will be assisted by distance markers and volunteers at road intersections to guide the runners and update them on their distance. Route maps will be shared prior to the event. The organizers will be available to discuss your queries, during the Chamba Marathon Expo to be held at the venue on 7th and 8th May 2021.

Will outstation participants get any help with travel and stay arrangements?

Outstation participants need to make their own travel and stay arrangements. You can refer to hotels and homestays in Chamba on travel portals. NotOnMap has curated several homestays in the region and we will explore making additional options available during the event weekend.
