Overview:- A beautiful scenic village in Nubra valley and famous for its sulphur hot springs, Panamik is a village that is nestled very close to the Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world. The hot water springs of Panama are enriched with a high amount of sulphur which helps in curing various health ailments.

The village of Panama is also famous for its Kashmiri and Tibetan artifacts. The village of Panamik is also the base for the trek to Ensa monastery; a 250 years old Gompa.

Stay:-
Churon House is a simple Ladakhi home built with love by a local family. The best part of this house is that it has 24 hr running sulphur hot water. So you take medicinal showers every day. All the rooms have attached bathrooms and warm quilts to keep that shivering away during the night as it does get cold by September.

Food:-
Organic farming and open cooking is a specialty at Churons house. You can yourself indulge in some farming activity and local cuisine, and why not; when the sun is warm and the water is sulphuric what else good can you think while listening to old country music. Simple home-cooked Ladakhi food is served here. From traditional firewood Dal Chawal to Mom Mok. Please don’t expect any fancy food as this is not being served here.

One can lot of activities in Panamik from visiting local Gompas to exploring nearby treks.

Panamik is a great place to buy Kashmiri carpets, Pashmina shawls, and woolen socks. Horticulture products like apricots, walnuts, apples, and almonds are also worth a buy. Shops in the market also stock Kashmiri and Tibetan artifacts which make for good souvenirs.

How to Reach:- Few km ahead from Khalsar the road bifurcates into two, the road on the left leads to Diskit while the road on the right goes to Panamik.

BY AIR:

Nubra Valley's closest airport is situated at Leh and is known as Bakula Rimpoche Airport. It is also one of the highest commercial airports in the world. From Leh, one has to take a cab, tempo traveler, or a state-run bus to Nubra Valley

BY RAIL:

The nearest railhead to Nubra Valley would be at Jammu Tawi, which is around 750 km away. In order to reach Nubra by train, one has to first travel from Jammu to Leh and then from there to Nubra.

BY ROAD:

Leh City is well connected by road to Nubra Valley. One has to take the route via Khardung La, the world’s highest motorable pass to reach Nubra. Leh City is well connected to Srinagar, Kargil, Manali, and Delhi.
