PROPERTY OVERVIEW:

This homestay surrounded by the might of the Kullu valley will leave you conversing with the giant mountains or will leave you being a silent observer of the baffling beauty. The heritage cottage is designed as per the traditional pahari architectural style and carries the essence of the valley.

This secluded and private homestay gives a rustic charm to the surroundings and complements the majestic panoramic serenity that is visible from the vantage of the homestay. This homestay is surrounded by the might of Kullu valley.

STAY:

The homestay was originally a cottage where foreigners used to live back in the 50's . The house had been mentioned in an autobiography of an Tibetan lady Mrs Dorje Yuthok, who retreated here in the 50 's The book is titled 'House of the Turquoise roof'. This prompted the host to start and name his Homestay 'Yuthok Retreat House'. The stay has a comfortable family room surrounded by the dense deodars and orchards.

WHAT TO EAT:

The host generally served fresh vegetables from his garden that he lovingly maintains, he grows Broccoli, Peas, Cauliflower, Beans, Potatoes, English vegetables, Rajmah etc. Also Himachli Siddu, Local vegetables like Lingri (kind of a fern, which is organic in nature) and Tibetan dishes like Momos And regular North Indian food.


EXPERIENCE:

Experience the kind of trails that have not been frequented or visited by the tourists that come to kullu on a regular basis. Most of the locations he arranges hikes to are unknown and hidden gems of Kullu.

  •  Jogindernagar railway station is the nearest railhead to Manali
  • Catch a bus to Manali
  • The homestay is located 24 kilometers towards Manali
  • Take an overnight bus, that way you will reach early morning
  • Get down 14 kilometers north of Kullu town on the way to Manali near the stop over Raison
  • Call the host once you reach and he will pick you up.

ABOUT THE HOSTS:

Rajeshwar Thakur lives in Raison, a village in upper Kullu valley. Raison was well known in the earlier history related to Kullu. The Britishers had set up their Tea Estate in Raison during the later half of 19th century. He originally hails from Lahul, a tribal district in the mountainous region of Himachal.

He owns a fruit orchard at Raison which mainly consists of Apple, Pear, Plum, Peach, Kiwi, Persimmon etc. He is 37 years old and has a beautiful daughter, wife and parents and they live the life most only wish to have.
