Located at a distance of 150 km from NJP Railway station and Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri,it is situated at an elevation of 5,000 feet above sea level.
After the strenuous 4 hr drive from Siliguri to Gangtok,it takes an additional one and a half hour drive to Parkha,enroute to which on can visit the popular Saramsa Garden(Epica garden),highly adorned with natural flowers at Ranipool,Teen Dharay(the exquisite V shaped rock) and numerous mesmerising small waterfalls. The destination’s name has been derived from a word used in Tibetan astrology. Its green forest,small hills,rivers and streams have started to lure tourists from far and wide.One can experience nature walk in and around the village through forest trails. Its main attraction is the Parkha View Point,from where one can have the bird’s eye view of the entire village in crisp air bejewelled with Machong Monastery and Parkha Gurung Gumpa.
One can also experience the river walk and indulge in river bathing and swimming. The bird lovers will not be disappointed as the Himalayan bird is found in abundance here.
