Shara is a village in the Leh district of Ladakh, India. It is located in the Kharu tehsil.
Shara village is 70km towards the North of district headquarter Leh, Tehsil Karu. It is 5177m altitude above sea level. The village is divided into three wards- Shara, Sharnos, and Phuktse.
Shara is 1.5 km away from the main road, Sharnos 1 km and Phuktse is 14 km away from the main road. Indus river flows in the nearest river of Shara. The village is quite big, it’s consists of 178 households with a total population of 905. The people of Shara village mostly rely on agriculture.

Transport
Shara is 70 km towards the North of Leh. Tourists can get there by three means i.e Bus, Taxi and electric bikes. Bus service has a fixed time, summer timing is going from Leh to Shara 4:30 pm and coming back next day 7:30 am and in winter 4 pm from Leh to Shara and next day coming back to Leh at 8 am, the fare of the bus is Rs. 120 per person for one route. Taxi charges from Leh to Shara lies between 2100 to 2500. We have kept electric bikes, booking to be done prior a day.
