Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand

Imagine a landscape graduating from sky blue to sapphire and pthalo, temple bells synchronizing to the sound of kumaoni and garhwali dialects, where religion meets the modern day man, and birds chirping away in harmony, pahadi children listening to age old stories sung by their grandmother about the pastoral history of a land so rich, endearingly called Devbhoomi, or the Land of Gods, where the four symbolic stations of our very own Hindu gods Shiva, Vishnu & Ganga, rest, awaiting hundreds of believers to cradle into their holy embrace, a mystically polar land, where Gujjar mandaps & international schools co exist, on pastoral lands, decorated by numerous streams, amongst many renowned hills that go by the names of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Gaumukh and so on. A land existing in harmony, where the pahadi farmer, a saint painted in saffron, a young traveler, & a beggar in rags, commingle over a cup of chai. A land that inspires feeding the soul, be it Ruskin Bond’s glorious novels, practising yoga or simply taking a bungee jump straight into a new life, this is Uttarakhand.
